The LHS Saga editors, Spencer Pipkin, Callie Pirkle and Mackenzie Hagen, went to the GSPA Awards Conference in Athens, GA on April 14 and 15.

The GSPA, Georgia Scholastic Press Association, held the eighty-third annual GSPA  Awards Ceremony at the Classic Center in Athens, Ga. There were 14 schools and around 220 individuals in attendance.

The Saga won a General Excellence award for their News Website and an achievement award for community service. Nikki Vannoy, LHS journalism teacher, won an achievement award for first year adviser. Simone Brock won a Superior Sports Game Coverage award for her story on competition cheerleading. Caitlyn White won a Superior Headline award for her headline, “Vending Machines: The Death of Punctuality.”

The Saga took home more staff-wide awards than any other school.
