“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

The first Star Wars movie, “The Empire Strikes Back” was established by George Lucas in 1977. Since then there have been six other films, and the legacy continues with the seventh film, “The Force Awakens,” directed by J.J. Abrams.

One of the best things about this film is the iconic returning characters including Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca. There are also some new characters including Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren.

The Force Awakens takes place thirty years after the downfall of the Galactic Empire. There is a new evil face of the First Order named Kylo Ren, Adam Driver, that threatens the galaxy. Whenever a storm trooper named Finn, John Boyega, tries to escape from the First Order, he lands on a desert planet where he meets Rey, Daisy Ridley. Rey is a scavenger with the resistance who comes across a droid named BB-8 that has the missing piece of the map which leads to Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill. Both the resistance and the first order are competing for who can find their way to Luke Skywalker first. Rey, Finn and BB-8 work together with the returning characters Han Solo, Harrison Ford, and Chewbacca to give information to the resistance on finding the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker. By the end, the resistance puts the map together and makes their way to where Luke Skywalker has been hiding all these years.

“The movie definitely met and exceeded my expectations it took a very interesting twist and I feel like that’s what kept me so interested in it and what made it unique. I saw it twice because it was so amazing. I definitely think Disney did a very good job with it and I am very interested to see how they go with the rest of the series, and I am looking forward to the next movie for sure,” said Daytin Steinberg, sophomore.

Following the success of this film, it will for sure keep the Star Wars franchise going for many years to come.
