Juniors, or rising seniors, will have the chance to buy a ceiling tile for $20 to decorate or design. These ceiling tiles will be placed back into the ceiling for the 2016-2017 school year. At the end of the school year, seniors will take it down and keep as a memory from Lowndes High School.
“It is a way to recognize seniors’ creativity to promote school spirit,”said LeAnne McCall, Lowndes High Principal.
The idea came from Dr. Laverne Hill, Lowndes High media specialist, who was looking at other schools for an update on the technology and other projects. She saw how one school had the same idea, and thought it would be great at LHS to brighten the school.
The money from the tiles will go to pay for the original cost of the tiles and the rest of the profit will go toward school events, projects, and needs such as painting, student pictures, and planting trees to make the school more inviting.
The ceiling projects will be placed down the hallways between the guidance and student check in, going towards J-wing.
After students come back from spring break, the tiles will go on the market on April 18. Students interested may see junior the sponsors Robin Belue, J105, and April Steele, J127 in J-wing.
